The Smoke House was a lovely and spacious cottage. My daughter and the dog enjoyed running around in the garden, and the pool was superb! A very quiet location, we heard cuckoos and saw woodpeckers - and Steve and his family made us very welcome. There are good places to visit (with the dog) - Thetford Forest (car parking prices a bit steep though), Helmingham Hall Gardens with a super display of Iris, aquilegia and peonies whilst we were there, Bury St Edmunds - parks good for the dog, shops good for the people, and Ickworth House (NT) - restrictions on dog in formal gardens, but extensive walks in grounds. There is a beautiful fan collection in the house. Mr W, ROWLEY REGIS 17 June 2010
Peaceful pleasant relaxing friendly atmosphere. The ability to go for walks in the countryside straight from the front door was a joy. An interesting farm location with many original Victorian features within the grade 2 listed buildings. Mrs W, Hockley, Essex 03 May 2010
The Smoke house and it's location were ideal for us with a teenage daughter and dog. The layout, facilities and furnishings in the cottage were of a high standard and the discovery of a chocolate cake on arrival was a special touch. The owners were very friendly and helpful as we had some special requests on arrival. The pool would have been used more if the weather had been less mixed, but we still got plenty of use out of it and the hot tub. We found lots of great walks close by, both from the cottage and a short drive away in Thetford Forest. Bury St Edmunds was a great place with all the facilities you'd need from a small town. Will definately try to go back again in the future. Mrs W, Westgate-On-Sea, Kent 24 August 2009
